Texas could experience more than a week of record heat

Texas has been experiencing record-breaking heat since the weekend, and Wednesday will be no different. Another day of record highs is possible.

Houston was among the Texas cities that experienced their hottest day of the year on Tuesday, reaching a high of 102 degrees Fahrenheit, as per the National Weather Service.

A number of Texas cities either matched or surpassed their heat records on Tuesday. Del Rio reached 108 degrees; Borger hit 104 degrees; Amarillo and Corpus Christi both saw 102 degrees; and Galveston reached 98 degrees.

Wednesday's forecast anticipates additional record-high temperatures in Abilene at 109 degrees and San Antonio at 106 degrees.

Heat indexes around San Antonio could peak near 114 degrees, with a stray storm possible in the afternoon during the hottest part of the day,
San Antonio affiliate KSAT reported.

While gusty winds and lightning are possible, most of the region is anticipated to remain dry, as reported by KSAT.

Extreme heat today.

Texas is expected to experience some of the year's most intense heat from Thursday through the weekend, according to forecasts.

Record high temperatures are also predicted for Roswell, New Mexico, reaching 105 degrees, on Wednesday.

Texas isn't the only state experiencing extreme heat. Heat Alerts have been issued for Florida, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico, where some locations could see a heat index as high as 116 degrees.
