A man lost his life and two others were wounded early Sunday when an altercation broke out at a large gathering in suburban Pittsburgh, leading to a gunfight , police reported.

The shooting victim who perished was located inside a car that crashed while attempting to escape the scene, as stated by the Allegheny County Police Department.

The incident occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on Sunday when 911 callers alerted police about a significant disturbance on State Street in Clairton, approximately 15 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, authorities confirmed.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders encountered numerous individuals engaged in a brawl on the streets, police said.

"Multiple local police agencies responded to the area to provide assistance to Clairton Police. Upon their arrival, they detected multiple gunshots discharged into the crowd at 4:10 a.m.," the Allegheny County Police Department stated in a press release.

Amidst the gunfire, one individual who sustained a gunshot injury attempted to escape in a vehicle but ultimately crashed on State Street, according to law enforcement.

Two additional individuals were discovered with gunshot wounds at the crime scene. One male sustained a gunshot injury to his leg, while the other sustained a gunshot wound to his arm, according to law enforcement officials.

The injured individuals received medical attention at a nearby healthcare facility, where both were reported to be in stable condition, as stated by law enforcement.

One individual was apprehended at the location of the incident; however, no charges have been officially announced.

The name of the man who was killed was not released.

Homicide investigators affiliated with the Allegheny County Police Department are actively conducting an inquiry into the shooting.

The precise cause of the altercation that resulted in the fatality has not yet been definitively established.
