Sources: Chiefs' Rashee Rice feared to have torn ACL

Rashee Rice, the wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, is feared to have suffered a torn ACL in his right knee, according to sources who spoke with ESPN's Adam Schefter. The injury occurred during Sunday's victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, when Rice collided with quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

"I am deeply concerned for Rashee," Chiefs coach Andy Reid expressed after the match. "... We will hope for the best."

Reid said Rice will have an MRI on Monday.

He sustained the injury after colliding with Mahomes while attempting to recover a Chargers fumble during an interception return. Both of Rice's knees were impacted during his collision with Mahomes, and his right knee appeared to hyperextend.

"It's not good," Reid told CBS during halftime when asked about the severity of Rice's injury.

Rice was assisted off the field and his knee was examined by medical staff on the sidelines before he was taken to the locker room on a cart. He did not return to the game.

Entering Week 4, he led the league in receptions with 24 and was second in receiving yards with 288.

Mahomes' pass intended for Travis Kelce at midfield during the Chiefs' second drive was intercepted by Chargers cornerback Kristian Fulton , who returned the pick 29 yards with 6:06 remaining. Rice, in pursuit of Fulton, collided with the Chiefs' quarterback as he attempted to tackle Fulton. Rice's attempted tackle resulted in a fumble, but Mahomes was injured in the collision.

Chiefs center Creed Humphrey recovered the fumble, but after video review, possession was awarded back to the Chargers.

Rice is facing multiple charges stemming from an alleged high-speed crash involving several vehicles last March on a Texas freeway.
