Shillong Lajong faces a tough opponent in NorthEast United FC in the first semi-final of the 2024 Durand Cup, taking place in Shillong on Monday.

NorthEast emerged as the top teams in their respective groups. NorthEast secured the top spot in Group E with nine points, while Shillong led Group F with seven points after a 1-1 draw against FC Goa.

It will be a battle between Shillong’s attack against Northeast’s defence, who have conceded all but just two goals in the Durand Cup. For Shillong Lajong, Marcos Rudwere Silva has been among the goals, whereas Phrangki Buam and Everbrightson Sana have also impressed in attack.

The victor of this match will advance to the final, where they will face the winner of the second semi-final between Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Bengaluru FC. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday, August 31st.
