Yes Studios is partnering up with Paramount’s Ananey Studios on “The Lost City: 101 Days in Captivity,” a new three-part documentary series revolving around the true story of four young Israelis who were kidnapped while on a trip to South America in 2003.
The series, set to debut on Yes Docu on September 19th, was developed by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Ofir Trainin (“Wandering Eyes,” “Family in Trans”) and Omri Kronland, Ananey Studios’ documentary and unscripted content editor-manager. Kronland is also the author of the novel “The Place Where the Sun Begins.”
Helmed by Trainin, “The Lost City: 101 Days in Captivity” tells the story of four young Israelis who decided to go on the ultimate trek to “The Lost City” in Colombia, along with four foreign travelers they met along the way. Within 48 hours, they were kidnapped by the ELN, a notorious guerrilla organization that held them for 101 days in the heart of the Colombian jungle. Twenty years later, their trauma was revived when news broke of the dozens of Israelis who were kidnapped by Hamas on Oct. 7 and taken to Gaza. For the first time, those who were abducted in South America were able to meet the leader of the ELN, the organization that kidnapped them, to try and get answers to the questions that haunted them all these years.

“The Lost City: 101 Days in Captivity” was produced using footage captured in real-time, personal journals written during captivity and interviews with the protagonists in English, Spanish, German and Hebrew.
“This captivating and chilling documentary series provides a fascinating look into the experience of being kidnapped, along with the lasting physical and psychological effects of the former hostages’ journey to survival,” said Sharon Levi, Yes Studios’ managing director. The company will handle international distribution of the documentary series.
“In a time when the situation of hostages, including how they are treated by their captors and the long-term consequences of such a traumatic disruption to their lives, remains a pressing issue, not just in Israel, but also in other parts of the world facing conflict, we believe this new documentary will resonate with many international audiences,” Levi stated.
The premium docuseries is executive produced by Keren Gleicher, Guy Lavie and Uzi Karin for Yes, and Orly Atlas-Katz and Osnat Saraga as executive producers for Paramount’s Ananey Studios. Yes Studios previously collaborated with Ananey Studios, an award-winning Tel Aviv-based studio, on the new scripted series “Wonder” earlier this year.
