'Wizards Beyond Waverly Place' Sets October Premiere Date

“ Wizards Beyond Waverly Place ,” the sequel series to the Disney Channel original “Wizards of Waverly Place,” is scheduled to debut on the network in October.
The premiere of the series will take place on Disney Channel on October 29th at 8:00 PM ET. The first eight episodes will be available for streaming on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand the following day.
Following the network premiere, two new episodes — including a Halloween-themed episode — will premiere back-to-back on Oct. 30. Beginning on Nov. 8, episode premieres will move to Fridays at 8:00 p.m. ET, with two weekly episodes.

Raven-Symoné (“Raven’s Home”) and Danielle Fishel (“Girl Meets World”) are also scheduled to direct episodes in the first season.
“‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ follows an adult Justin Russo (David Henrie), who has decided to live a normal, non-magical life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo. When Justin’s sister Alex ( Selena Gomez ) brings Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must revive his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also managing his everyday responsibilities — and protecting the future of the Wizard World,” reads the series’ logline.
The cast includes Henrie, LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele (as Roman Russo), Max Matenko (as Milo Russo), Taylor Cora (as Winter) and Mimi Gianopulos (as Giada Russo). Gomez will make a guest appearance as Alex in the first episode.
Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas are credited as writers and executive producers, along with Gary Marsh, Jonas Agin, Gomez and Henrie. Andy Fickman directed and served as executive producer for the pilot episode and will direct additional episodes.
Gomez recently told Variety’s Marc Malkin that returning to the set of the Wizarding series felt like she was home again, “It felt like I was home again. I’m so happy I got to bring back this childhood gift that I was given to new little ones out there.”
