Per ABC’s official bio for the franchise’s upcoming lead, he is a “self-proclaimed mama’s boy” whose “infectious smile and unwavering positivity instantly brighten every room he enters. The former pro basketball player is passionate about his career as a day trader, but when he’s not immersed in the fast-paced world of finance, you can find him cheering on the Lakers, hitting strikes at the bowling alley or belting out tunes at karaoke nights. Ellis quickly stood out among the contestants on Season 21 of “Bachelorette,” forming a strong connection with Tran during group dates and cocktail parties in the first four episodes. They went on their first individual date in the Week 5 episode, which aired on Aug. 5. During their dinner, Ellis shared with Tran how his father’s substance abuse issues had impacted him, while Tran described the challenges she faced with an absent father. The next night, Ellis told the other contestants that he was starting to fall in love with Tran. But surprisingly, Tran sent him home during Week 6 instead of moving forward to the hometown dates, where she would meet the families of the remaining contestants.

Tran first appeared on ABC’s popular reality dating show as a contestant on Season 28 of “The Bachelor,” which aired earlier this year and featured Joey Graziadei, who is now engaged to Kelsey Anderson. Season 29 will air in 2025, along with Season 10 of “Bachelor in Paradise.” This fall, ABC will premiere “The Golden Bachelorette,” a spinoff of “The Golden Bachelor”, starring 61-year-old Joan Vassos.

“The Bachelor” is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in collaboration with Warner Horizon. Claire Freeland, Bennett Graebner, Tim Warner, and Peter Gust serve as executive producers.
