Rapper Sean Kingston and his mother arraigned on fraud and theft charges

MIAMI -- Rapper Sean Kingston and his mother pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of defrauding multiple businesses of more than $1 million.
Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, and his mother, Janice Turner, made their pleas during an arraignment hearing before Broward Circuit Judge Ernest Kollra, as reported by the Sun Sentinel. Previously set at $90,000, their bail remained unchanged, according to the newspaper.
The musician and his mother pleaded not guilty to charges of organized fraud and grand theft .
Kingston was originally apprehended in Fort Irwin, California, in May based on a warrant issued by the Broward Sheriff's Office. This followed a SWAT team conducting a raid on his residence in Southwest Ranches .
Kingston, 34, and Turner, 61, were accused of defrauding a jewelry store, a high-end bedding company, a dealership specializing in used luxury and exotic cars, and a company offering premium microLED televisions since October 2023, according to arrest warrants.
Kingston and his mother are scheduled to reappear in court on Oct. 11, as reported by the newspaper. They are also facing related charges in federal court.
Kingston burst onto the music scene at the age of 17 in 2007 with the hit “Beautiful Girls,” which featured his lyrics over the instrumental track of “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King.
