Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, known for his bold and controversial statements, has explained why he chose not to appear on The Kapil Sharma Show.
In 2020, Mahabharat’s complete cast arrived on The Kapil Sharma Show except for Mukesh Khanna.
“I'm not a fan of Bigg Boss or The Kapil Sharma Show because of the vulgarity, but he (Kapil Sharma) is a fantastic entertainer, no doubt,” Khanna said while speaking to Bollywood Thikana.
Advertisement The Shaktimaan star revealed two reasons that made him wary of Kapil Sharma. “There were two incidents… I won't say they made me ‘anti-Kapil,’ but I just didn't vibe with him. The person might be good, but you just don't feel comfortable around him. I don't think he even realizes it, but I had told Krushna Abhishek. They used to do skits on Comedy Circus, and the mistake Kapil made was that he wore Shaktimaan's costume, and in front of him was a girl, with a bed shown on the side,” he revealed.
“I was shocked. We had portrayed this character as very righteous, and here you are showing that he's too busy to even notice a girl—otherwise, he would be charming them. It felt like you were doing it just for laughs. I confronted Krushna about the act. Krushna told me that he was supposed to do it, but Kapil took it from him,” he continued, “The second incident happened at an award show. I was sitting in the front row, and Kapil, I think, was just starting his career. So, Kapil sat next to me for 10-20 minutes but never greeted me once. He just accepted his award and left.”
Reflecting on the incidents, he said, “These two issues were on my mind. That’s why I called him uncultured. Why does he think he is so important? When someone behaves like this, they lose respect.”
