Paris-based, independent animation house Millimages is a well-established name in children's entertainment, renowned for popular animated series like the multi-award-winning “Molang” and the preschool series “Mouk.” Their newest series, “ Bin Buddies ,” has been selected to be showcased at this month's upcoming Cartoon Forum, taking place in Toulouse from Sept. 16-19.
The series will be featured not only at Cartoon Forum but also at Mipcom in Cannes the following month.
The series looks to carry the spirit of the label’s previous successes through its focus on ordinary, everyday life (but with a touch more color). “Bin Buddies” is noted as being “the first upper preschool CG animated series to place bin men in a starring role” – a rather refreshing change of pace for children’s shows surrounding a fantastical depiction of blue-collar work.

Created by Fabrice Ravier and designed for 52 seven-minute episodes, “Bin Buddies” stands out in contrast to other popular children's animated series, a distinction that producer Bonnie Lener proudly highlights.
“I was immediately drawn to the potential of ‘Bin Buddies’ because it deviates from the usual rescue or vehicle-themed shows that transform ordinary jobs into fantastical superhero scenarios,” Lener explained. “Instead, it takes a commonplace (but often overlooked) everyday job and demonstrates its value to the community through fun and engaging stories. We are eager to present the series and discuss potential international collaborations with our colleagues at Cartoon Forum and Mipcom.”
“Bin Buddies” is geared towards children aged five to seven; its adventures unfold in “Nicelittletown,” a place where trash collectors are celebrated by children as heroes, similar to firefighters. Each episode in the series will follow the antics of Maddy the Ostrich, Rodrigo the Lion, and Turbo the Raccoon – “partners in grime” on a mission to tidy up their town using their “fabulous one-of-a-kind garbage mobile” – this unique vehicle being just one way the show transforms refuse collection into a lighthearted adventure.
“Bin Buddies” will be pitched at Cartoon Forum on Sept. 17. The trailer, a comprehensive overview, and two scripts will subsequently be presented at Mipcom by Bonnie Lener, producer and head of development at Millimages.
