Hillary Clinton took the stage of the Democratic National Convention Monday night in Chicago, thanking Joe Biden for his lifetime of service.

Eight years after losing the presidential election to Donald Trump, Clinton now has the opportunity to support another woman running for the highest office, Vice President Kamala Harris . Clinton stated in her DNC speech that after her 2016 defeat, “We refused to give up on America. Millions participated in protests, and many sought elected office.”

“Now we are writing a new chapter in American history. The future has arrived!” she declared.

Clinton got a big cheer from the fired-up DNC crowd when she assailed Trump, saying “Donald Trump fell asleep at his own trial. When he woke up, he made his own kind of history, the first person to run for president with 34 felony convictions.”

“We have him on the run now,” she also said of Trump.

“Unlike some, she will never engage in flattering correspondence with dictators,” Clinton remarked about Harris.

Clinton emphasized, “Despite any poll results, we must stay engaged. We can't let ourselves be drawn into baseless conspiracy theories. We must defend the truth. We must rally behind Kamala, just as she will fight for us. Remember, it takes collective effort to nurture families, heal a nation, and achieve victory in a campaign.”

“I know her deeply and am certain of her integrity,” Clinton said of Harris. “Therefore, as President, she will always stand by our side. She will dedicate herself to lowering costs for working families. She will create wide-ranging opportunities for well-paying jobs. And, undoubtedly, she will restore abortion rights across the nation.”

“Let’s go win it!” she concluded.

Other speakers at Monday night's convention included Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, and President Joe Biden.

In her book “What Happened,” Clinton reflected on her defeat to Trump. She acknowledged that her labeling of half of his supporters as “basket of deplorables” was a mistake and expressed regret for using a private email server, which led to the reopening of a federal investigation that hurt her campaign.
