Halle Berry shared in a Wired video interview that Pierce Brosnan rekindled her faith in men during the filming of their James Bond film, 2002’s “Die Another Day.” The action movie marked Brosnan’s final appearance as 007 after a seven-year stint that commenced with 1995’s “GoldenEye.” Berry portrayed Bond girl Jinx in the movie.
“He will always be my Bond, always,” Berry said when asked about her experience on the movie. “I’m a Pierce Brosnan fan. He restored my faith in men on that movie. There couldn’t be a more gentlemanly human being than Pierce Brosnan.”
“Bond wasn’t on my wish list, no, not to be in one, but I loved the movies, always,” Berry continued. “Having been in one, I feel like I’m a part of cinematic history. … Those movies are iconic. They will forever be a part of our history, and I’m really honored to have been a part of one, especially with Pierce.”

Berry’s Jinx in “Die Another Day” proved to be such a fan favorite among Bond fans that franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson began planning for Berry to get her own spinoff film. But Variety reported in 2020: “The plan was thwarted when MGM got cold feet about the film’s $80 million budget. That decision angered Broccoli. One of her primary goals as steward of 007 has been to dispel some of the chauvinism that characterized Bond’s appearances in the novels and early films.”
“It was very disappointing,” Berry l a t e r told Variety about losing the Jinx movie. “It was ahead of its time. Nobody was ready to sink that kind of money into a Black female action star. They just weren’t sure of its value. That’s where we were then.”
Berry currently stars in the Netflix action film “The Union” alongside Mark Wahlberg. Watch her Wired video interview in the post below.
