“Saltburn” star Barry Keoghan is set to join Cillian Murphy in Netflix ’s upcoming “ Peaky Blinders ” film.

Details of his role have not yet been unveiled.

Netflix confirmed earlier this summer that Murphy was set to reprise his role as the intimidating gangster Thomas Shelby in the film, directed by Tom Harper (“Heart of Stone”). Harper previously helmed episodes for the first season of “Peaky Blinders.”

Steven Knight created the hit series, which is set in turn of the century Birmingham, back in 2013. Knight has returned to write the movie and will also co-produce alongside Murphy and others.

"I am genuinely excited about this film coming to fruition," Knight stated previously. "It will be a dynamic chapter in the 'Peaky Blinders' narrative. No holds barred. A full-fledged 'Peaky Blinders' at war."

Rebecca Ferguson is also rumored to be part of the movie, with production slated to begin later this year.

Keoghan received an Oscar nomination for his performance in “The Banshees of Inisherin” alongside Colin Farrell and won a BAFTA for his depiction of a cunning working class Oxford student in “Saltburn.” He also recently appeared in Sabrina Carpenter’s music video for “Please, Please, Please.”

In June, Caryn Mandabach Productions Limited, the production company behind the popular “Peaky Blinders” franchise, was acquired by Banijay U.K. It has since been renamed Garrison Drama Limited. Caryn Mandabach, the company's founder, has stepped down from her role but remains involved as a producer on the film. She has also entered into a separate development agreement with Banijay U.K.

Deadline was the first to break the news of Keoghan’s casting.
