The AMC series based on The Talamasca from the works of Anne Rice has cast Nicholas Denton in the leading role, Variety has reported.
The show was first reported to be in development at AMC in 2023, with the network officially giving the green light for the show in June 2024. AMC has ordered six episodes, with filming scheduled to begin in Manchester, England next month. The series is set to debut on AMC and AMC+ in 2025.
The series is part of the so-called Anne Rice Immortal Universe at AMC, as the network acquired the rights to Rice’s best-selling book series “The Vampire Chronicles” and “The Lives of the Mayfair Witches,” which encompass 18 titles in total, back in 2020. Series versions of “Interview With the Vampire” and “Mayfair Witches” have already premiered.

According to the official description, “The Talamasca” will focus on “the individuals responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, and other creatures found throughout the world.”
Denton will play Guy Anatole. The character is described as “brilliant, handsome, and sharp on the surface, but he’s always known that his mind works a bit differently. As he nears the end of law school, he is approached by a representative of the Talamasca, a secretive organization that safeguards humanity from the supernatural realm. When Guy discovers that the Talamasca has been tracking him since childhood, he finds himself immersed in a world of secret agents and immortal beings who have maintained a delicate balance with the mortal world. To preserve this balance, and for Guy to survive, he must embrace the dark, treacherous depths of his true and unique nature.”
Denton’s recent roles include the Starz series version of “Dangerous Liaisons,” where he portrayed Valmont. His other television appearances include “Glitch,” “Utopia,” and “My Life Is Murder.” He is slated to appear in the upcoming feature film “Eden” directed by Ron Howard.
He is represented by UTA, United Management in Australia, and Conway Van Gelder Grant.
John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty serve as executive producers and co-showrunners on “The Talamasca,” with Hancock also set to direct. Mark Johnson also serves as an executive producer through his overall deal with AMC Studios, under which he oversees all the shows within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe.
