Animation Is Film Festival Includes A Color Within, Memoir of a Snail

The Animation Is Film Festival has revealed its 2024 lineup, featuring films like “A Color Within,” “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie” and “ Memoir of a Snail .”
The seventh annual festival will take place over the weekend of October 18-20, with three major events scheduled for each day. The festival will also include filmmaker workshops, extended screenings, and several premieres. The event will be held at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood.
The festival opens on Oct.18 with the North American premiere of the melodic and bold feature from the Japanese animation studio Science Saru, “A Color Within,” directed by acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Naoko Yamada, known for “A Silent Voice.”

On Oct. 19, the festival will highlight the North American premiere of Warner Bros. Animation’s “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie,” directed by award-winning filmmaker Pete Browngardt. This film is distributed by Ketchup entertainment.
The festival will conclude on October 20th with the Los Angeles premiere of IFC Films’ “Memoir of a Snail,” directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Adam Elliot, who also received this year’s Cristal Award at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, AIF’s co-founder.
In between the three main events, the festival will screen Annecy Prize-winning films like “ Flow ” and “Sultana’s Dream,” alongside the short film “Percebes.”
In addition, the event will feature filmmaker panels for “ Inside Out 2 ”, “Moana 2,” “Transformers One,” “The Wild Robot,” and “An Almost Christmas Story.”
The festival will also showcase the U.S. premiere of Netflix’s “Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain,” the North American premiere of the documentary “Miyazaki, Spirit of Nature,” a sneak peek at the work in progress “Yoppaman”, and a 15th-anniversary screening of Takeshi Koike’s “Redline.”
